A divine blend of Carnatic and fusion music at Gudi Sambaralu

when violinist Karthick Iyer and his band, IndoSoul enthralled audiophiles as part of the

Gudi Sambaralu

festival recently. Accompanied by a

mridangam

,

bass guitar

and drums, Iyer belted a set that blended Carnatic compositions with experimental fusion. Keeping in mind the temple premises, the Chennai-based artiste played Thyagaraja’s krithis along with songs from his recent album Two Sides of Karma.

Speaking about the experience of performing at the beautiful hill temple setting amidst a packed audience, the frontman of the quintet said, “We thoroughly enjoyed rendering our original compositions at the Gudi Sambaralu. It is a beautiful setting and to perform in a temple is very special to us.”
