In what was his final stunt, Murray sought to break the great escape artiste Harry Houdini’s feat of escaping from a straightjacket and chains in five minutes. And quite amazingly, Murray achieved the feat in less than three minutes by wiggling his body “in a manner that almost dislocates his shoulders” as he admitted. The audience watched in disbelief as Murray defied the laws of biology to stage the escape.

Murray was at his humourous best throughout. Once he was done swallowing the steel sword, he remarked rather cheekily, “Now that gives new meaning to the term deep throat!” And the crowd roared with laughter. There was another instance in his straightjacket escape routine where there were two buckles dangling between his legs and then he asked one of the volunteers to “reach out and grab the two things between my legs.” The guy sure knows how to entertain.
