Bryan Adams presided over this city boy’s proposal, and the girl said, ‘Yes!’

these aren’t just lines from popular Bryan Adams’ songs. This is actually how Hyderabad-based MNC employee Tanmay Dalal, a Bryan Adams fan, proposed to Amritansha, his girlfriend of 10 years! “Amritansha, I am ready. I want to grow old with you. Will you marry me...” said Tanmay, going down on one knee. But what made the proposal even more special for the duo was the fact that Bryan Adams himself was presiding over it! Needless to say, a very emotional Amritansha was over the moon, as she gushed, “Yes!”

So, how did he pull off this coup of a proposal? “Oh! I can’t believe my luck myself. It’s the best day of our lives,” gushes a clearly overwhelmed Tanmay, adding, “We have been dating for a decade now, and have been discussing about taking our relationship to the next stage. All these years, I have been singing Bryan Adams’ songs to woo her. So in a way, Bryan Adams has always been a part of our love story; the background score to it, if you will. So, Adams coming to Hyderabad around the time when I was planning to propose to her felt like too much of a coincidence! I knew I had to pop the question at the concert... Initially, I thought I will just do it at the venue, in front of the huge crowd with the stage and his music as the backdrop. But when I approached the organisers at Kool 104, they actually decided to take us backstage! I couldn’t believe my luck. It was a complete surprise for Amritavanshi.”

The duo are childhood sweethearts who met while they were in school in Ranchi. They started dating soon after. College took them to different cities. While Tanmay went to Bhubaneswar, Amritavanshi studied in

Manipal University

. Later, they found jobs also in different cities, and it was only last year that both of them ended up
together in Hyderabad. “So, for most of our lives as a couple, we have been in a long-distance relationship. He would often send me Bryan Adams’ songs, and I found it reassuring. So in a way, Bryan Adams has been a cornerstone of our relationship. That he popped the question to me in front of Bryan Adams himself, is like, oh my gosh... I am on Cloud No 9,” gushes Amritavanshi.

Did she see it coming? “Well, we are at a stage in our relationship where I knew a proposal was round the corner. I also know how crazy he is about Bryan Adams. But to be honest, no, I could never imagine he was going to be able to pull off such a big proposal. I was genuinely surprised and overwhelmed by the gesture,” she chuckles.
Bryan Adams apparently was amused by the whole thing, especially since Tanmay used lyrics from his songs to propose to his girlfriend. “He couldn’t stop laughing and I could see that he was almost blushing, when I used his lyrics to propose. Later, he congratulated us and told us to send him pictures of our baby (when we have one),” says Tanmay, signing off.
