The popular melodies of SD Burman were rendered by Anirudha and Singapore-based musician Pooja Kandarpa. Balaji interspersed the melodies with his narration of anecdotes and incidents from the life of SD Burman. Accompanying them on the guitar was Satyendra Tolpadi who had come from Mysore to participate in the session.

SD Burman: The Prince-Musician is the third book co-authored by Anirudha and Balaji after their National Award winning RD Burman: The Man, The Music in 2011 and the MAMI award winning Gaata Rahe Mera Dil - 50 Classic Hindi Film Songs in 2015. For its conceptual novelty and delightful execution, the session was very well received by the audience at the forecourt of the Shaheen auditorium of Hyderabad Public School.
