Kathak performance

at Jawahar Kala Kendra’s Rangayan auditorium. The cultural programme is being organized by

JKK

in association with the West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur.

The event began with a group performance on the ‘Surya Strota shloka’ in ‘Raga Bairagi’ in teen taal. Solo performance of upaj, ugaj, toda, gat bhaav by Monisa Nayak was the highlight of the evening. Another attraction of the event was performance on ‘Thumri’ written by Pt Narayan Prasad. This group performance was based on ‘Raga Des’ and ‘Taal Adha’.

This was followed by the group performances based on ‘Raga Malhar’ and a ‘Sargam’ depicting the happy mood of the rainy season. The dance exponent Monisa left the audience spellbound with her solo dance performance on ‘Jugalbandi’ and ‘Aakash Chari’ with 31 ‘Chakkar’. The event concluded with a Kathak dance on the ‘Sargam Tihai’ in ‘Raga Gaurmalhar’.

Monisa was accompanied by six other dancers Vidyagauri Hemant Adkar, Mujaffar Mulla, Praveen Parihar, Priyanka Kumari, Malvika Sharma and Preeti. The artistes were accompanied by Yogesh Gangani on tabla, Samiullah Khan on vocals and harmonium and Mohammed Ayyub on sarangi.
