Piyush Mishra floors Jaipur audience with his poetry

Birla Auditorium in Jaipur reverberated with roaring claps when seasoned poet & musician, Piyush Mishra recited his iconic poems, Ik Bagal me Chaand hoga, Husna, Ae Uth Ja Re Bahu, Raat ke Musaafir, etc on Friday. The occasion was Awaaz Studio’s third annual showcase event,

Aarzoo

, which featured a medley of art forms on a single platform.

is a Jaipur-based group formed by Ankush Nagpal to promote art in Jaipur.


The event started off with especially curated community meetup, Majlis, displaying various indigenous brands and artists at the art souk. The prime attraction of Majlis were live carpet weaving by local artisans and painting demonstration by artists.

The evening traversed through a foyer of art leading the audiences to artistic ecstasy by the means of stellar performances of poetry, music, storytelling and a lot more. Folk singer, Juma Khan and his troupe marked the beginning of the performance rostrum with bhapang, morchang and dhol.

Jaipur-based storyteller, Jeetendra Ajmera staged a poignant piece on Parkinson’s disease, a nervous disorder and shared the plight of mental patients.

Another young artist from Jaipur, Rajat Singh aka Ruhaan performed a very unique rap on the issue of domestic violence. National Youth Poetry Slam winner, Shubhra Awasthy staged a heartfelt poem about marital rape.

Bappadittya Sarkar left the audience spellbound with his poetic prowess through a narrative about untouchability. Hussain Haidry performed his viral poem “Hindustani Musalmaan” and a couple of more. Singer Hritisha Rewadia voiced Bollywood medleys in her melodious tone. The evening concluded with a slew of excellent poems by Piyush Mishra.

We have had the pleasure of working alongside some of the most brilliant artists of our times in the past three years. Curating this event has been a complete joy ride and we are delighted by the overwhelming response. The event was designed to promote not just performing arts but artists from all genres.”
