Virtual workshop on contemporary Pichwai art organised
Pichwai is a traditional Indian art having its origins in Rajasthan. Pichwai was originally designed to create a devotional atmosphere for the daily ‘shringaar’ of the god. Pichwai art features intricate painting portraying Lord Krishna which is done on fabric using dark rich hues. Giving a contemporary look and feel to this traditional artform,
Moksharth began the workshop by giving insights about Pichwai artform. “I would call my art contemporary yet it has all the core traditional elements.” he said. Starting with the basic outline of the motif, he explained how to add the detailing to the eyes, nose and lips of Lord Krishna. Eventually, he used a brush pen to fill the outline with black, yellow and red colour. The attendees had several queries regarding the origin of Pichwai, different kinds of motifs that can be made and the kind of colors that can be used for this form of art. Moksharth patiently responded to all their questions while adding detailing to his painting.
This interesting Circle experience was joined by over 130 attendees from different parts of the country. All the participants enjoyed the workshop and worked together along with Moksharth to create beautiful versions of contemporary pichwai painting. Overwhelmed with the response and the dedication of the participants, Moksharth expressed his gratitude towards all the participants. He also showed a few of his other Pichwai artwork to the participants.
The enthusiastic participants completed their contemporary Pichwai paintings within the given time frame and flashed their artwork on their cameras.
