Though Saurabh Shukla’s play 2 To Tango And 3 To Jive had little audience, those who turned up to watch it, loved it. As soon as the curtains were raised, the audience present in the auditorium clapped for the actors. “I am really surprised at such a small audience. Firstly very few plays come to Kanpur and when a play like this is here, people have not come to see it,” said Tanu.
The audience enjoyed the acting of Shukla, Achint Kaur and
Sadiya Siddiqui and
Preeti Mamgain. “I really loved the comic timing of the actors. Also the story of the play is lovely,” said Abhishek, who came to watch the play along with friend Manish.
“Frankly speaking, the play turned out to be a fantastic entertainment. It was a welcome a change in my routine and I really want that some more plays be staged in Kanpur,” said Ashima. The actors however, were not too happy with the low turnout as Achint said later, “The response to theatre in Kanpur is very lukewarm, nothing compared to how the Lucknow audience reacts. And that is strange, because there are so many actors from Kanpur in the industry –not theatre but TV.”
