The event, which started on February 24, offers free entry to all and is open from 10 am to 5 pm. Artists Bijou and Gigi, who are friends and former classmates at Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram (B A English, 1987), are exhibiting their works for the first time ever on a platform like this. The expo was inaugurated by Lions Clubs Former Vice District Governor Rajesh Kolarikkal.
The show, which has a total of 58 paintings on display, features 52 paintings by Bijou and six by Gigi. Bijou says, “Abstract realism and contemporary and the themes under which my works can be categorised, while Giji’s mostly belongs to the genre of realism. Both of us are conducting an exhibition of our works for the first time. While I love the paintings of Gigi, who has been pursuing painting as a hobby, he loves mine - and that’s our equation.”
While Gigi is an interior designer, Bijou is currently a full-time artist. Bijou says that his works show how he has grown over time, as an artist. “All of my works are on display here and as one scans through the works over various years, it is evident how more of depth came into my works with time. I have an affinity for abstract works as the viewers can decipher their own individual meanings of the works, as they watch them.”
The show is on till February 28.
