Photography enthusiasts document a changing Kerala

While thanks to smartphones, everyone is clicking pictures of everything from their clothes and food to travel experiences, the Kochi Camera Club, which aims to bring together photography enthusiasts, also hopes to document the places, people, culture and everyday life in the State.

“This has been a conscious effort on every photo-walk that we’ve done since around August, when we started,” says “The Kerala that we see now might not be the same two or three decades from now. Also, there is some old-world charm in our roads, markets and quaint little places. So the club has a documentational aspect, as well as, bringing together a photography community. We help each other with compositions or technicalities,” says Maazin Koroth, a creative manager with an ad company, who organises the events of the club with Steven Chris, who works in software.

The photo walks have various themes, like Black and White challenge or street portraits, and the club, which has a floating membership of about 40 men and women of various age groups and skills, has covered Fort Kochi and Mattancherry, Broadway, Aluva market, Kadamakkudy Island and Vypeen Beach, among other places.
