A conference on mangroves and coastal resources commences in Kolhapur

For the protection of the environment, preserving

mangroves

is absolutely necessary. Losing out on these species, would be counterproductive even for the survival of the man kind in the long run. This was the opinion Dr. A G Untawale shared during the inauguration of a

conference

on mangroves in the city.

The national conference has been arranged by the Shivaji University in

Kolhapur

. The inauguration took place at Neelambari hall in the premises and was attended by the Dr Devanand Shinde, the Vice-Chancellor of the university. Highlighting the importance of these plants, Dr Untawale said that these species absorb more carbon than others.
