Kolkata comes alive with spooky magic at Halloween festival
The city witnessed a Halloween festival like never before, as Nandan and its surroundings transformed into a thrilling world of ghosts, ghouls, and folklore creatures. Hosted by Spondon, the festival featured everything from witches with flowing capes to the eerie Shakhchunni of Bengali tales, with attendees bringing their Halloween spirit to life through stunning costumes, elaborate makeup, and creative props.
“The festival this year was all about celebrating imagination and fearless creativity. Seeing the city come alive with so many characters—from classic witches to Bengali folklore spirits—was a joy beyond words. With fourteen models and nine makeup artistess working tirelessly, every corner turned into a canvas of art and fun. Spondon has always aimed to blend global Halloween traditions with our own rich culture, and this edition truly achieved that. We wanted people to not just dress up, but to fully immerse themselves in the experience, express themselves, and make memories,” said Atmajyoti Mitra, Founder of Spondon.
The event, now in its 5th year, once again brought excitement to the Academy of Fine Arts area, attracting crowds eager to witness the parade of imaginative costumes. It was a celebration of creativity, camaraderie, and the spooky magic that Halloween brings to the city.
