’s 19th anniversary and the band members celebrated the occasion recently at a city auditorium. From the current and old members of the bandplaying to other fellow city musicians performing — the evening saw a power-packed show.

“It is customary for us to celebrate our

birthday

,” said Soumitra Ray. “This year, many of our friends joined in. I am moved by the cooperation we got from Chandrabindoo band members. Lopamudra (Mitra) took to the stage spontaneously along with us. She was not prepared,” he added.


While Anindya Chattopadhyay sang Mone Ar Nai Re and Upal Sengupta rendered Maa, Lopamudra received applause for Daakche Akash with Bhoomi musicians. “I had no time to rehearse with them,” said Lopamudra, adding, “But they played so well. The band also recognised the efforts of Soumitra’s organisation that works for the girl child and handed out a cheque to a young scholar, Prathama Pratihar. “She is a deserving young achiever. Besides excelling in academics, she is also brilliant in sports,” Soumitra added.
