Kolkata to witness a street music festival

In a first, the City of Joy will witness a street music festival. Musicians from the city as well as the suburbs will be a part of it. This colourful and fun-filled musical event will see people from different walks of life in performance. For instance, Mohammad Ibran, a

flute

seller, Nilanjan Saha, a sandwich seller, Sourojyoti Chatterjee, a street musician who plays the

violin

and National Award-winning patachitra artist Kalpana Chitrakar will perform at the music fest. Subol Das Bairagya and his team will render spiritual songs. Apart from him, Anil Mahanto, who sells flute at the Dum Dum Metro station, would play a few of Tagore’s compositions on the flute. That’s not it.
Kuntal Sil from Chinsurah would perform compositions on the

harmonica

. Musicians from reputed band parties, too, are set to enthrall the audience at the do. Soma Das, one of the organisers of the festival, said, “This music festival is a tribute to musicians who run their livelihood by singing on the streets. The idea of the event is to celebrate life through music.”
