An evening of celebrations and wins

The

first May Queen Ball

in two years was held at the

Mahomed Bagh Club

(

MB Club),

), recently. The pageant which had three categories, namely, May Queen 18 years and above, May Prince for 14 years and above, and

May Princess

for 14 to 18 years, witnessed high participation. It had performances of contemporary music and songs by the jazz band of the

Gorkha Rifles

.

Over 600 members enjoyed the evening while feasting on snacks and drinks being served on the occasion. The event started with instrumental music and a jazz band which was followed by models and contestants walking the ramp. There was also an international dance act that got a thunderous applause from the audience.

The May Queen contest had 12 contestants who gave a good presentation of their attire and personality in three rounds of catwalk ending in the question and answer around. All the participants answered the question and posed on stage. While Vasudha Verma clinched the title of the May Queen, Aditi Dubey and Kawalbir Kaur were adjudged the second and third runners up, respectively.

The judges, Somya Madan, Ritu Thareja, Brig Gyanoday Bajpai and Dr Rajiv Saxena had a difficult time selecting the queen among the contestants. The evening ended with the members and the contestants dancing in celebration.
