Ajay- Atul, Benny Dayal, Javed Ali and Sukhwinder Singh perform on Day 1 of a music festival in the city
On Day 1 of the 4th edition of a music project, fans witnessed a star-studded line-up of Bollywood singers deliver their best on stage. The event took place on last Saturday.
The stage was set on fire with the first rap crew of India, Mumbai’s finest who entertained the crowd by mixing lyrics with popular hip hop beats. The audience roared when The Yellow Diary band started off with the rock version of ‘Kabira’ from ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ followed by ‘Gazab ka Hai Ye Din’ from evergreen ‘Qayamat se Qayamat Tak’ and ‘Ye Dil Deewana’ from movie ‘Pardes’.
A musical performance is never complete without reminiscing the tracks of 90s. From taking the audience through hits like ‘Akhiyon se Goli Maare’, ‘O Ho Jaane jana’, ‘Muqabla Muqabla’, ‘Zara Zara’, ‘UrvashIi Urvashi’, ‘Yai Re’ from Rangeela movie to ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, ‘Kehna Hi Kya’ from Bombay, and ‘Hum Hai Hindustani’; the singers Ashish Chhabra, Rimi Nique, Mansheel Gujral, Sharvi Yadav, Siddhant Sharma & Thomson Andrews took the audience to a nostalgic trip down the memory lane.
Singers Shashwat Singh and Nikhita Gandhi, who sang songs like ‘Ruby Ruby’ from ‘Sanju’, ‘Raabta’ from ‘Agent Vinod’, ‘Wat Wat’ from ‘Tamasha’, and ‘Raat Baaki’ from ‘Iteefaq’ movies respectively, followed by some of the best soulful ghazals like ‘Aapko dekha toh bahar aa gaya’, ‘Hoshwaalo kya khabar hai’ by popular singers Mohammed Irfan and Asees Kaur, which left the audience spell bound. The music lovers hummed along with the singers as they rendered the romantic composition ‘Banjaara’ from the movie ‘Ek Villain’.
The evening was set alive by Bollywood and Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, who paid tribute to legendary playback singer- Kishore Kumar. Taking back to memory lane, Zubeen regaled the audience with songs like ‘Chingari Koi Bhadke’ from ‘Amar Prem’ and ‘Rim Jhim Gire Sawaan’ from ‘Manzil’.
The audience was taken on a musical journey with performances by artists like Ajay- Atul, Benny Dayal, Javed Ali and Sukhwinder Singh, amongst others.
Music lovers gathered in large numbers as singer Javed Ali whose name the crowd chanted loudly sang some of his popular songs like ‘Jash-E-Bahaaraa’ from ‘Jodha Akbar’, ‘Guzarish’ from ‘Ghajini’, ‘Tu Jo Mila’ from ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, ‘Dil Ibadat’ from ‘Tum Mile’, ‘Chand Chupa Badal Mein’ from ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Tu Hi Haqeeqat’ from ‘Tum Mile’, ‘Dusro se Jhoothi Moothi’ from ‘Saathiya’, ‘Ek Din Teri Raahon Mein’ from ‘Naqaab’ movie, ‘Tum Tak’ from ‘Raanjhanaa’. Funktuation & The Horn Flakes. started off with a peppy number ‘Daaru Desi’ from the movie ‘Cocktail’ followed by ‘Ek Main aur Ekk Tu’, ‘Badtameez Dil’ from ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Nacho Saare Ji Phaadke’ from ‘Happy Ending’ and ‘Oh Gujariya’ from ‘Queen’ movie. Singer Vishal Dadlani gave a pleasant surprise to audience as he joined Benny and together they grooved the audience with ‘Disco Deewane’ from ‘Student of The Year’.
Sukhwinder Singh, inarguably one of the most energetic and accomplished artists in Bollywood, gave a power packed performance making everyone nostalgic by singing songs like ‘Nasha hi Nasha hai’, ‘Ramta Jogi’ from ‘Taal’ movie, ‘Haule Haule’ from ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, ‘Beedi Jalaiyele’ from ‘Omkara’, ‘Kar Har Maidaan Fateh’ from blockbuster movie ‘Sanju’, ‘Dil Hara’ from ‘Tashan’, ‘O Sathi Re’ from ‘Musafir’. A special performance on ‘Dhan Te Nan’ along with Vishal Dadlani astonished the crowd who welcomed him with a big roar.
Performing for the first time, the major highlight of the evening was the performance by Maharashtra’s sensation Ajay-Atul. The crowd cheered loud and applauded them once they came on stage.
