For romantic evenings, office outings and parties...Mumbaikars hop onto luxury yachts
Love the sea and luxury experiences? Mumbaikars are making waves—literally—by celebrating special moments mid-sea, on a yacht! Whether it’s a dreamy proposal, birthday, an intimate anniversary, or even a corporate soirée, sailing away adds that extra sparkle to any occasion.
Set sail for a celebration to rememberThe jetty at Gateway of India offers breathtaking views of the Mumbai skyline. Vinay Gupta, owner of a luxury yacht service, says “Our sailing slots run daily from 7am to 6 pm, with each experience lasting two hours. Birthdays and anniversaries are popular, but proposals are extra special! We customise décor, cakes, and provide fruit champagne to create a magical moment.”
He adds, “There’s an exclusive dinner option for couples. It includes a candlelit setup, a bouquet and a stunning sunset backdrop. Evening slots are a hot favourite as couples and partygoers chase the golden hour, while early risers tend to enjoy a more serene experience.”
Ditch the boardroom and seal the deal at seaWho says meetings have to be boring? Sufiyan Mansuri, founder of a travel company that offers yacht sailing experiences says they also have been regularly receiving requests from companies- both Indian and International to organise team meetings on a yacht.
Sufiyan says, “A lot of corporates are opting for informal meetings, get-togethers and parties on yachts. Recently we had a company organise their annual board meeting on our yacht, where they wanted to plan something special for the spouses, while their partners were busy in the meeting. We organised a projector for the meeting and a live singer for the party.”
My partner and I went on a yacht date recently, since she is fond of the sea. On my request, they arranged flowers along with pizza and beverages for us. We had a large cabin to maintain privacy. The two-hour long experience around the Gateway of India, let us enjoy a stunning sunset view. It’s definitely something I would do again —Sohil Furia, Kandivali
