It's
Makar Sankranti today and people are celebrating the day in their own special way. Most of them will take to building terraces and other open areas to fly kites. And more than 50 patients with
cardiac
, orthopedic
physiotherapy
ailments from
Wockhardt
hospital, participated in the kite-flying festival to send out a positive message to the community.
Having a fun time outdoors
It was a colourful occasion, alright
This hospital at Mira Road came up with this idea to celebrate Makar Sankranti and organised the kite flying at
Joggers Park
, near Mira Road railway station. For the patients who took part, they wanted convey that any obstacles of life can be defeated and that no matter what disease anyone may suffer from, they should never get bogged down or give up. Instead, they should always fly high like a kite. The idea was to promote how patients should fly high with good health and that the string should be controlled by the patients themselves by adopting a few modifications for a healthy
lifestyle
, such as staying physically active and following some
healthy
eating habits.
Said Dr Pankaj Dhamija, Centre Head of Wockhardt
Hospital
, "We pledge on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, to get our patients and customers out of the darkness of diseases and suffering towards the bright light of health and happiness." Everyone got into the mood to try and fly the kites as best as they could.
