Mumbai joins a global skating relay event

Here’s an

event

that saw kids get into some

sporty

action. Somaiya Sports Academy, an initiative of

Somaiya Vidyavihar

, hosted for the second time a unique skating

relay

, which witnessed the participation of

inline skaters

across the world.

Part of a global roller skating relay, the event in Mumbai began at 6:30 pm and went on till 10:30 pm, recently. The global

charitable initiative

had skaters across the world skating in a continuous relay. The

Indian

relay took over after

Brazil

and after the relay here, it then began immediately in Germany.

The city kids were from different

schools

and they had put in a lot of practice before the relay. Children from the age of 3.5, as well as recreational and fun skaters, professional teams, participants and champions, took part. Aazaz Khan, co-organiser and director of academy says, “It was a fun event. We are committed to provide our youth in Mumbai, sports facilities that enables and encourages youngsters to participate in sports. From hosting events, providing world-class infrastructure for professional as well as coaching and training, we are happy to contribute towards growth of sports culture in the city. We are pleased that we could enable Mumbai being part of a global relay of skaters.”
