(TOI Photo)The past few days at the Shri Ramdeobaba Kamla Nehru Engineering College have been abuzz with lots of activities, with many colleges taking part in the inter-collegiate fest 'Pratishruti.' There was attitude, frenzy and enthusiasm as rock stars of the city kept everyone's adrenaline flowing. The occasion was the rock band contest organised by the college and it was a hit with the audience.
Electrifying atmosphereThe atmosphere at the venue was electric. While six bands from different colleges of the city had a wonderful time performing for the crowd, the spectators too lapped up every single moment. The Chaos band from SRKNEC got a lot of applause when they belted out 'Toxicity.' VNIT's Arceon went a notch higher and had the spectators on their feet when they sang the numbers, 'You wanna be my girl' and Bandee.Life, thy name is rockThe love for heavy metal can draw crowds from just anywhere. And this proved to be true when Shweta Ramteke, a student from GMC, trooped in with her friend Khushboo, despite having her exams. When quizzed about it, she replied with a chuckle, "Rock music gives me a high and I didn't want to miss the contest. I am happy after attending the concert. And when I am happy, I do well in my exams too." The album wayWhile some people are avid rock listeners, for others it becomes an inspiration to work on an album. NT caught the winners of last year’s rock contest, Savio, Atish and Jack, enjoying the programme and asked them why they weren't participating this time round? "We are in the process of making our own album and it doesn't give us much time to participate in a contest," said Savio. Busy bees The students of SRKNEC are busy juggling their cultural activities along with academics as campus recruitments are in the offing. "Along with cultural activities we are also preparing for our placements. I guess this multi-tasking will hold us in good stead in the long run," said Nikhil Singhvi, a IIIrd year student. DJ nightIt was the perfect way to beat the blues as hundreds of students gathered to witness the ‘War of the DJs’. The high decibel level energised students to such an extent that even when the event was over they were asking for more. Sensing the mood of the students, DJs played the latest Bollywood numbers. The audience was left mesemerised as DJs showed their mastery in their chosen profession and mixed tracks zealously and with loads of finesse.
