Sharing her happiness over the phone, Shreyasi, said, “Winning this championship is just like a dream come true. I practised a lot for it. The credit also goes to my coach, Daniel Di Spignio, for encouraging me and bestowing his trust on me. This victory was much-awaited. I had lost many final rounds earlier, which lowered my confidence level. However, with this crown, I am confident enough to win many more accolades in future.”

Shreyasi’s mother, Putul Kumari, and her sister, Mansi Singh, were present at the event. Shreyasi added, “I was really happy when my mother said that she was proud of me. I could see a sparkle in her eyes. My sister was overjoyed at my success.”

After winning this championship, Shreyasi will now practise hard for the World Cup, which will be organised next year by the International Shooting Sports Federation in 2020. She said, “This gold medal will encourage me for future championships. I will work hard for the World Cup, so that I may bring laurels for my country.”
