Padmashree Shovana Narayan enthralled all at city college

The event started with her performance on Vishnu Vandana. Tabla maestro, Shahbaaz Khan, also visited the city all the way from Delhi to accompany Shovana. Famous harmonium and violin players, Azhar and Imran Khan, also accompanied her on this trip. Post her performance, Shovana interacted with the students and spoke about various dance forms. She said, “I am happy that students of this generation are so eager to know about our cultural dance forms. Students seemed to enjoy when I was explaining the difference between cultural and modern dance forms.”
On the occasion, a new academic block was inaugurated which boasts of a dance practise hall, film projector room, student’s discussion hall as well as indoor games section. Dr Shashi Prabha, principal of the college, said, “This classical fest has been organised with a motive to inculcate culture values in students. Therefore, we invited some of the best artistes of our country so that our students acquire more knowledge.”
Sharing similar views, Ashish Adarsh, secretary and career councillor of the college, said, “I am thankful to all the artistes who have graced the event. They have shared their experience with the students, which will help them in several ways.”
