celebrated Baisakhi with their families at their home amidst lockdown. While Punjabis sang traditional songs at home and thanked the farmers for their contribution in agriculture, Bengalis celebrated their New Year, Poila Boishakh, in a traditional way.

. Kumar Gaurav, a college student said, “This festival is celebrated in different regions in their own way. We call it Satuani in our region because we eat sattu, the flour of the roasted gram and raw mangoes to celebrate the festival. We prayed to God for the safety and prosperity of our region. We also remember the farmers who are having a hard time during the corona crisis.”
Sharing similar views, Payal Singh, a homemaker said, “This year, people could not celebrate Baisakhi in a grand way due to the spread of covid-19. However, we celebrated it at home in a simple way. My Bengali friends also performed puja ceremonies at their home and greeted each other through social media and phone on the occasion.”
