City life can be really hectic with so much traffic and noise. Hanging out with friends and family with some good food is probably the best way to relax. Thankfully, Patna is equipped with a few reputed clubs that serve mouth-watering vegetarian and non-veg food items. USP: Bankipore Club’s fish seekh kebab is very popular among the club members. Though this dish is available every day, it sells more during weekends. Dr Om Prakash, secretary of the club, said, “Fish seekh kebab is one of the special dishes of our club. It is because of Amar, the canteen’s cook, who prepares it in a special way. He selects fresh boneless fish, marinates them for some time. Meanwhile, he makes a paste of spices, which includes green chilies, chili powder, onion, salt, ginger-garlic paste, cumin seeds and turmeric powder. The fish is also ground separately and blended with the spices. The kebabs are then put on grill for around 15 minutes. When kebabs are cooked, he serves them hot after sprinkling some lemon juice and chaat masala over the kebabs.”
Other popular Chinese items are crispy paneer chilli and chicken chilli.

Members not only relish the dish as a main course item, they also order it as a snack item. Ashish Shankar, a committee member of the club, said, “Whenever I order chicken, I prefer the leg pieces. Like me, there are several others who love this item. The chicken pieces are marinated in a mixture of spices, including chilli powder, salt, yogurt, ginger and garlic paste, lemon juice, coriander powder, garam masala powder and besan. USP: It is a rich and healthy dish that keeps you full for a long time. It is available on all the days during lunch and dinner. KT Singh, member of executive committee of the club, said, “I love paneer maharani, which is one of the special items of the club. The procedure to prepare this dish is very easy and can also be made at home. All you need is to shallow fry four medium-sized onion paste in a pan — just like we do it for other paneer dishes. Once it turns light brown, add the cashew paste (250 gm) into it. Stir for five minutes and then add tomatoes, preferably a paste. Now mix some butter to a cup of curd. Add coriander, cumin, salt and a pinch of sugar. Cook for five minutes and then add paneer cubes. Let it cook for 10 minutes and then serve it in a bowl. It can be garnished with cashew nuts.”
