Here's how Raipurians beat the heat
The scorching
Pudina, hari saunf and lady’s finger falooda
Another ice cream parlour in the town has a variety of vegetable-flavoured ice creams including one that tastes like lady’s finger! Neha Gupta, owner of the store located in Naya Raipur, says, “We have green chilli, ginger, lemon, lemon-ginger, pudina, hari saunf and lady’s finger ice creams. Such flavours are gaining popularity in the city – they are unique and yummy. We do a lot of taste testing to make sure that these ice creams taste good. It’s not enough to just introduce something just for the sake of the trend, they need to taste right and taste good.” So what’s the most popular ice cream here? “Definitely, it’s the lady’s finger. Customers get excited when they see this flavour on the menu,” Jugal adds.
Spice cream for soul…
A city-based ice cream parlour located at Telibandha Lake, is making use of Indian spices and ingredients typically associated with Indian food to add spice to their ice cream, quite literally! Green mirchi and ginger are two such flavours that this ice cream parlour is offering Raipurians. Kashish Sharma, owner of the shop, says, “People love spicy food. Keeping that in mind, we introduced green mirchi flavour at our parlour, and it has become quite popular with the customers. The spicier each bite gets, the more you want to have it, which is its USP. Apart from that, we also have thandai and green tea flavoured ice creams and they are gradually gaining popularity.”
Chill with golgappa ice cream, nimboo pani and aam panna
Raipurians have plenty of options to explore when it comes to cool drinks. Moving beyond bottoled drinks, youngsters are heading to city’s Marine Drive to indulge in nimboo pani, mango panna and golgappa ice cream.
