Rajesh Singh Dayal Foundation celebrates Raksha Bandhan with visually impaired children, advances work on 600-bed hospital in Lucknow
The Rajesh Singh Dayal Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to healthcare and social inclusion, marked this year’s Raksha Bandhan at the Raj Bhavan in Lucknow with the Honourable Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel, and hundreds of visually impaired children.
Foundation volunteers and staff ensured the children’s safe and comfortable arrival at the Governor’s residence. Patel tied Raksha Sutras to the children and shared sweets, creating a warm, inclusive celebration. The gathering reflected the organisation’s ongoing commitment to building opportunities for the differently abled to participate fully in social and cultural life.
The foundation’s work stems from the personal journey of its founder, Rajesh Singh Dayal, a pioneering social activist and educationist in Lucknow. His dedication to service deepened after the loss of his son Kunwar at the age of 20. In his memory, Dayal established Kunwar Lives and Kunwar’s Educational Foundation, focusing on expanding educational access for rural and underprivileged youth. Over time, his social initiatives evolved into the Rajesh Singh Dayal Foundation, which has provided free health and medical aid to more than 1.5 lakh people across Uttar Pradesh.
Building on this legacy, the foundation has now begun work on a 600-bed multi-speciality hospital in Lucknow, designed to deliver affordable and accessible medical care, particularly to underserved communities. This major infrastructure project marks a new chapter in the foundation’s mission to strengthen healthcare delivery in the state.
From healthcare outreach and inclusive community events to education programmes for rural youth, the Rajesh Singh Dayal Foundation continues to honour its roots while expanding its impact—proving that compassion, service, and resilience can shape lasting change.
