lecture

on the topic, 'The Traditional Art of Jharkhand', delivered by Dr

TN Sahu

, Head of the Department, Tribal Regional Languages. Dr

Giridhari Ram Gaunjhu

, eminent tribal Linguist was also present on the occasion. In his illustrative talk, Dr Sahu brought to light the techniques and importance of various traditional art forms of Jharkhand that include clay art, basketry, bamboo, metal jewellery and wood carving. Besides, he also mentioned many unknown facts including their place of origin, local name and their use in various areas. Dr Sahu further added that due to modernisation, their existence is at stake and some of them have disappeared from use.
