Santoor player Tarun Bhattacharya to perform with L. Shankar in Varanasi concert
Following his recent Padma Shri, santoor player Tarun Bhattacharya is set to perform in Varanasi as part of the Annapurna Devi Foundation Music Tour. The concert will feature a collaboration with violinist L. Shankar. The performance will bring together the santoor and violin in a joint recital. The meeting of santoor and violin—two instruments with contrasting tonal textures—promises a rare musical dialogue that blends intricacy with spontaneity. Bhattacharya, based in Kolkata, has continued to perform across India and abroad in recent months. Alongside his performances, he remains engaged in training young musicians, following the guru–shishya tradition. The concert in Varanasi will be part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to present classical music performances while supporting artists at different stages of their careers. The upcoming recital is expected to draw audiences interested in Hindustani classical music and instrumental collaborations.
