Now, a Tamil film being shot in Varanasi

Banaras that has turned into a hot destination for films from the South, is nowadays playing host to the cast and crew of a Tamil film. Titled '

Kalakalapu 2

', the film is a sequel of 'Kalakalapu' and is directed by actor turned director, Sundar C.
Several scenes of the film were canned at

Assi Ghat

on Tuesday featuring celebrated actor Jiiva, known for films like 'Kavalai Vendam', 'Pokkiri Raja', and actor Jai seen in film like 'Engeyum Eppodhum'. In between shots, enjoying tea in Banarasi style in kulhads, the duo got into action on every call from the director Sundar C. Actor Singampuli in the garb of a sadhu, could be mistaken for a real one.
What was interesting was that the bouncers brought in as security for the film crew also doubled up as extras and were dressed in lungis and shirts to fit into their characters.
During a nearly 20-day schedule, the film, which is a comedy, is being shot at Ramnagar, Scindia Ghat, Assi Ghat and the lanes adjoining these ghats. "Several action scenes and songs have been already been shot. A Holi song will be canned soon. We are still scouting for the right location for it," says Sandeep Bharadwaj, the line producer.
The film also features actors Catherine Tresa and Shiva in important roles.
