A confident D-Town is ready to dump its flip-flop policy about release dates

The filmmakers are planning their releases in advance
For a long time now,

Gujarati films

have struggled to finalise their release dates. Barring a few exceptions, most films have found themselves going through an uncertain phase, before suddenly getting released in a hurry. Unlike their Bollywood counterparts, where release dates of big ticket films are finalised and announced well in advance, most Gujarati films see their release dates getting announced, postponed and changed several times before they finally hit the theatres. Be it not getting clearance from the CBFC on time or avoiding clash with other Gujarati flicks/star driven Bollywood movies at the BO, a number of factors prompt most filmmakers to keep their release dates fluid.
But that seems to be changing, with a new breed of confident, professional and talented filmmakers planning their releases in advance. From choosing a festive date, depending on the theme of their film, to timing the release keeping other major events like IPL and the cricket World Cup in mind, and hitting theatres after international film festival hopping, these filmmakers are choosing their release dates wisely. This not only allows them to chart out an exhaustive promotional plan before the film reaches the audience, it also creates proper buzz around the film for the big opening. Learning from the past experiences of fellow filmmakers from the industry, filmmakers like Abhishek Shah (

), Anish Shah (

), Naiteek Ravval (47 Dhansukh Bhawan), Shailesh Leuva (Machchhu) and Bapodra (Kutumb) are taking a more professional approach towards releasing their films.
