I always wanted a daughter: Jayaka Yagnik

Actress Jayaka Yagnik and her husband Smit Bavariya, an eye surgeon, who got married in 2021, became parents to a baby girl on May 22. Jayaka tells us, “No achievement can match the joy of motherhood. I am really delighted because I always wanted a daughter. There have been some health challenges along the way but the moment I saw her face, I forgot everything. Baby girls are really cute, and this is the best thing that could have happened to us.”

‘She is a miracle baby’

Jayaka says that as she had fibroids and endometriosis, doctors had told her that it was almost impossible for her to conceive naturally. She shares, “I had a major surgery in 2021 which lasted for about 10 hours. After the surgery, I was told by multiple doctors, ‘Forget conceiving naturally, even IVF might not work in your case.’ However, Smit and I never lost hope. At the same time, we did not put ourselves under any unnecessary pressure. Smit, who is a doctor, was really chilled out and told me not to feel stressed.”

She adds, “In life, there are times when you meet some angels and, in my case, I have been blessed to have been guided by three fabulous doctors (Dr Rohan Palshetkar, Dr Mohil Patel and Dr Sanjay Patel) at different stages. By God’s grace, my pregnancy was quite smooth. After all that I have been through, I feel she (my daughter) is a miracle baby.”

‘I plan to resume work after three months’

Jayaka, who has done Gujarati films like Halkie Fulkee, Wassup Zindagi, Musafir Chhu Yaaron and Aapne To Dhirubhai, and Gujarati TV shows like Chhuta Chheda and Narsinh Mehta, says she plans to take a three-month break. She shares, “I plan to resume work after three months. I feel blessed to have a supportive husband and in-laws. Right now, I just want to focus on my daughter.”
