Filmmaker Manish Saini, who earlier directed the National Award-winning Gujarati film ‘Dhh, has now won for his Gujarati film ‘Gandhi & Co.’ which stars Darshan Jariwala, Reyaan Shah, Hiranya Zinzuwadia, Jayesh More, Druma Mehta, Sharad Vyas, and Dhyani Jani. The film, which is honored with Swarna Kamal/Golden Lotus, is the third film in the history of Gujarati cinema to win this award presented by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, under the Directorate of Film Festival.
The National Award will be presented by the Honorable President of India, Droupadi Murmu, next month in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
‘Gandhi & Co.’ is a lighthearted Gujarati comedy film that tells a story with a backdrop of Gandhian values of honesty and harmony in an entertaining way. This film is a coming-of-age family drama meant for family audiences.
Elated director Manish Saini shared, "We are committed to giving meaningful content to society, and we are happy that our efforts are being recognized. We hope that more and more people will watch the film and appreciate it."
Producer Mahesh Danannavar added, "This is such a great achievement and honor for us to win the National Award, and this gives us encouragement to make more content-based movies."
National Award-winning actor Darshan Jariwala, who is part of the star cast, said, "This is a very special moment for all of us and a matter of pride for our children."
Previously, 'Bhav ni Bhavai, directed by Ketan Mehta, and 'Hellaro, directed by Abhishek Shah, won this prestigious Swarna Kamal/Golden Lotus award, and now 'Gandhi & Co.' became the third film in Gujarati to win this award.
