‘The reason why regional movies work abroad is because they miss India’

As an actor it always feels nice to be appreciated and to get a wider audience reach for all the hard work one puts in. This year,

India Film Festival of Alberta

Canada (IFFA) will run movie screenings digitally and at a few drive-in theatres. The festival that begins on September 1 will showcase seven Gujarati films this year including Dhunki, Bey Yaar, Kevi Rite Jaish, Luv Ni Love Storys, Love Ni Bhavai, Golkeri and Wrong Side Raju. We spoke to some Aarohi Patel whose film

Love Ni Bhavai

will be screened and what having her movie showcased abroad means to her as an actor.

Aarohi Patel whose movie Love Ni Bhavai will also be showcased is excited and says it’s always nice when your movie is showcased in a foreign country. Aarohi who was in Canada last year says, “NRGs in Canada really love our country and the reason why they watch Gujarati movies is because it reminds them of the culture back home and the fact that they cannot immediately be home, it’s all to do with being nostalgic.

“I am especially happy with the fact that movies like Love Ni Bhavai and Bey Yaar are shown, as when these films were released there wasn’t much scope for them to be released or screened abroad.” Says Aarohi.
