Prem Gadhavi is in a happy space these days. His Gujarati play United States of Pada Ni Pol has been critically acclaimed. Prem who’s taking care of the light department in Saumya Joshi’s play Welcome Zindagi has more reason to celebrate — he is set to make his debut in Marathi films, in a horror comedy, tentatively titled

Oh My Ghost

.


The versatile actor, who’s starred in

Gujarati movies

like Order Order Out Of Order, Polam Pol, Vitamin She, Daud Pakad and Chor Bani Thangaat Kare, will share screen space with Prathamesh Parab, k nown for his roles in Marathi films, Balak Palak and Timepass and the Hindi film

Drishyam

. Prem who will be portraying a Gujarati character in the movie, shares, “We had a 15-day stint in Aurangabad; right now, the movie is being dubbed. It is likely to release later this year.”

Prem adds, “I play one of the main characters. That’s all I can say about my character. I am multilingual in the film; my character speaks Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi.” So, did he take any Marathi lessons for the project? The actor shares, “I have lived in Mumbai and watched

Marathi movies

and plays. Even during childhood, I had a certain level of exposure to the language, as my neighbours were from Maharashtra. In order to get certain pronunciations, nuances and dialogue delivery right I took diction lessons in Aurangabad for three days.”

Talking about his experience of working in the Marathi film industry, Prem tells us, “Initially, I was nervous. They work in a very different manner, but they made me feel so comfortable that I almost forgot whether I was shooting in Ahmedabad or Aurangabad.”
