Actress and thespian
Netri Trivedi talks about how the
lockdown
has changed the
theatre
industry. She shares, “I see many theatre groups now putting up their plays and theatrical readings online.
NCPA
and
Prithvi Theatre
in Mumbai also did the same recently. As I see it, the challenge now is how to get the audience to watch theatrical performances online where there is already so much content on the various OTT platforms. Given how difficult it was for the parallel theatre to survive already, the current situation is naturally going to make it more difficult for the genre to stay relevant. Both economically and in terms of content, parallel theatre will now find it harder to sustain.”
