In one of the most remarkable box-office stories of the year, the Gujarati blockbuster Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate directed by
Ankit Sakhiya has surpassed
Sunny Deol’s Hindi action-drama Jaat to emerge as the 31st highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. This achievement is particularly impressive given that Laalo is a regional film with a fraction of the screen count of mainstream Bollywood releases, yet its theatrical run has displayed exceptional longevity, audience loyalty, and weekly endurance.Sunny Deol’s Jaat, which marked his return to the big screen after the massive success of Gadar 2, had closed its box-office journey with a strong Rs 88.72 crore, while Laalo’s total collection now stands at Rs 88.80 crore.
What makes Laalo’s performance extraordinary is not just the final number, but the way it achieved it—through a long and steady run rather than a front-loaded opening. The film’s week-wise box-office trajectory showcases one of the strongest holds for a Gujarati release in years:
Week 1:Rs 33 lakh
Week 2:Rs 27 lakh
Week 3:Rs 62 lakh
Week 4:Rs 12.08 crore
Week 5:Rs 25.70 crore
Week 6:Rs 24.40 crore
Week 7:Rs 15.70 crore
Week 8:Rs 8.50 crore
This explosive surge from Week 4 onward transformed Laalo from a modest regional release into a cultural wave. The film’s spiritual themes, rooted storytelling, and relatable humour created a growing audience base through word-of-mouth, fuelling packed houses we
ll beyond the usual box-office lifespan of Gujarati cinema.
On its 9th Friday the film had collected Rs 40 lakh despite facing competition not only from last week’s Tere Ishk Mein starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon but also from this week’s big release Dhurandhar starring Ranveer Singh. The film braved the two Hindi films on Saturday as well as it collected Rs 80 lakh which led the film to cross Jaat’s lifetime collection
The journey for the film still seems far from over, it is very much on its way to become the first Gujarati film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in India.
