Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava is on track to become his first Rs 300 crore film, following a strong performance at the box office.
Chhaava Movie ReviewThe film witnessed an impressive surge on its second Saturday, collecting Rs 45 crore across all languages, according to early estimates on Sacnilk.com. The movie also managed to clock an impressive Hindi occupancy rate of 56.09%.
Chhaava had a stellar first week, amassing a total collection of Rs 219.25 crore. The film continued to perform well into its second week, earning an estimated Rs 23 crore on Friday. Over its opening weekend, it saw steady growth, with collections of Rs 31 crore on February 14, Rs 37 crore on Saturday, and a peak of Rs 48.5 crore on Sunday.
Despite a slight dip on Monday to Rs 24 crore, the film bounced back on Tuesday with Rs 25.25 crore. Wednesday, coinciding with Shivaji Jayanti, further boosted collections to Rs 32 crore. The week concluded with a slight decline on Thursday, adding Rs 21.5 crore to its total earnings.
With its strong box office performance, Chhaava has surpassed Uri: The Surgical Strike to become Kaushal’s highest-grossing film. It is now set to be his highest-earning project to date and his first film to cross the Rs 300 crore mark as a lead actor.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava boasts an ensemble cast, including Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai, Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, Divya Dutta as Soyarabai, and Diana Penty as Zinat-un-Nissa Begum, Aurangzeb’s daughter.
With its continued momentum, industry experts predict that Chhaava will hit the Rs 300 crore milestone today, setting it up to become 2025's first blockbuster.
Vicky on Saturday took to Instagram and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to people for their abundant love. Sharing a still from the film, Vicky wrote, "No more an 'Unsung' Hero! Thank you everyone... Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj ki Jai."
On the work front, Vicky has already moved on to film his next film - Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Love and War' which will see him reuniting with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
