After a low opening on its first day, Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Dobaaraa’ failed to pick up on Saturday and then remained flat on Sunday as well.
All in all, the Taapsee Pannu starrer fared poorly on its first weekend where it managed to collect Rs 2.50 crore at the box office, according to a report in boxofficeIndia.com. The opening day collection of the film was actually better than Taapsee’s previous film, ‘Shabaash Mithu’ which collected Rs 40 lakh. ‘Dobaaraa’ managed to gross more owing to the Janmashtami holiday.
Meanwhile, the dubbed south film, ‘Karthikeya 2' is doing pretty well in Maharashtra and Gujarat. The collections of the film reportedly even went up to Rs 4 crore mark.
Taapsee Pannu led ‘Dobaaraa’ released in theatres on August 19 and within a day of its release, the film has fallen prey to piracy. The entire film has been leaked on the internet by notorious websites like Tamilrockers, Movierulez and Telegram among others.
Ahead of the film’s release, Taapsee had shared that ‘Dobaaraa’ received positive reactions from pre-release shows and urged the audience to give the movie a chance.
Apart from Taapsee, the film also starred his ‘Thappad’ co-star Pavail Gulati and Rahul Bhat in key roles.
