‘Judwaa 2’ box-office collection Day 1: The Varun Dhawan, Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer opens at Rs 15.50 crore nett

‘Judwaa 2’ starring Varun Dhawan in the lead along with Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu, had a wonderful opening at the box-office. The film collected Rs 15.50 crore on the day of its release and is the biggest opening of the year after ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’, ‘Tubelight’ and ‘Raees’, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com.

The romantic comedy directed by David Dhawan released on the final day of Navratri, ahead of the long Dussehra weekend to be extended till Gandhi Jayanti on Monday.

The film is the sequel of Salman Khan’s original 1997 flick ‘Judwaa’ which had Karisma Kapoor and Rambha as the female leads. Varun plays a double role for the first time in his career and has portrayed two distinct personalities of Raja and Prem who do share a stark similarity.

Loaded with several high-octane action scenes and stunts, the film is a thorough hilarious masala entertainer for what David Dhawan is known for. The film also has the recreated versions of the original hit numbers ‘Chalti Hai Kya 9 Se 12’ and ‘Oonchi Hai Building 2.0’ which have been pepped up for this one. To top it all, Salman Khan also returns for the climax scene in his double role from the original.
Besides Varun in a double role, the film also stars Anupam Kher, Upasana Singh, Rajpal Yadav, Pavan Malhotra, Ali Asgar, Vivan Bhatena and Vikas Verma in important roles. While David Dhawan claimed to have made the film because he loved some scenes from the original, son Varun has dedicated the film to his idol Salman Khan.
