'Kantara' box office collection day 35: The Rishab Shetty movie surpasses Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhaava' even worldwide after already beating its domestic collection, touches Rs 614 crore
Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has been running in theatres for over a month now, and the film continues to hold steady despite several new releases. Even after its OTT debut, the movie is still drawing audiences to cinemas, managing to stand strong against titles like ‘Baahubali: The Epic’, ‘Thamma’, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ and ‘The Taj Story’. 'Kantara: Chapter 1' released on OTT on October 31 and yet, it has continued to get some numbers in the theatres.

A few days ago, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ had already overtaken Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ at the domestic box office, and it has now surpassed its worldwide earnings too. The film has become the number one Indian film globally, grossing Rs 832.42 crore in 33 days, which includes Rs 110.50 crore from overseas markets. It is now also the second highest-grossing Kannada film ever, just behind ‘KGF: Chapter 2’.
On the domestic front, the film collected Rs 1.85 crore on its fifth Friday, Rs 3.6 crore on Saturday, and Rs 3.65 crore on Sunday. On fifth Monday, it made around Rs 1 crore, followed by Rs 1.15 crore each on Tuesday and Wednesday. Its Week 4 total stood at Rs 37.6 crore, a drop of just over 52% from the previous week but still impressive for its fourth weekend.
With these numbers, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has reached Rs 614 crore in India, moving ahead of ‘Chhaava’, which stands at around Rs 601 crore. Despite being available on OTT, the film continues to hold its ground at the box office, which is a rare feat today. The film though is behind 'KGF 2' which had an India net collection of Rs 859 crore according to Sacnilk.
