'Kantara: Chapter 1' box office collection day 8: The Rishab Shetty film sees a dip on Thursday, crosses Rs 330 crore by the end of first week

'' which is the prequel to the 2022 film 'Kantara' released in cinemas on October 2 amidst much anticipation. While the film had already hit it out of the park in the advance bookings, the word of mouth around the film further led to growth and just as it completed its first week, it has sustained well at the box office all through. The film stars Rishab Shetty and is also directed by him. It also has Rukmini Vasanth in a key role. The film clashed with Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor's 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari' but obviously, took the lead and there's a huge difference between the numbers of both. Clearly, the scale, budget and the number of screens of release - all these factors are also hugely different for both the movies.

Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1 Movie Review

'Kantara Chapter 1' which released in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam has crossed Rs 300 crore at the domestic box office in the span of 7 days. Meanwhile, it has crossed Rs 400 crore at the worldwide box office, thus, beating the lifetime collection of 'Kantara' which released in 2022 and even 'KGF Chapter 1'.


On Thursday, the film has seen a drop from the Wednesday numbers. It had an opening of a whopping Rs 61.85 crore at the box office on day 1. It saw a drop on day 2 and overall in all languages made Rs 45.4 crore. But there was a jump again over the weekend. Within a span of 4 days, the film crossed Rs 220 crore which is huge. With this. With this, 'Kantara' is now in the top 10 highest grossing movies of the year. The film has surpassed Rajinikanth's '', Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhaava'. On Wednesday, day 7, it has made Rs 25 crore. On day 8, which is Thursday, as per early estimates, the collection is Rs 20.50 crore. It can be expected that the Thursday number might be lesser than the Wednesday number. The total collection now stands at Rs 334.94 crore, according to Sacnilk.
