Kareena Kapoor Khan, a stalwart of Hindi cinema, is in her 25th year, and a leading multiplex chain has announced to run a Kareena Kapoor festival in cinema chains, showcasing her standing in the business. For the past some time, the actress has been trying out different kinds of films, like the all-girl gang film The Crew alongside
Tabu and
Kriti Sanon, mystery thriller Jaane Jaan with Jaideep Ahlawat and
Vijay Varma, and her latest project, The Buckingham Murders, directed by Hansal Mehta. Her recent film sees her stepping into the role of a detective investigating the murder of a child, all while grappling with the grief of losing her own.
The film opened to Rs 1.15 crore on Friday, and on the back of strong word of mouth, the collection spiked on the weekend, to collect Rs 1.95 crore on Saturday, and Rs 2.15 crore on Sunday. The film crashed on Monday by nearly 63%, to collect Rs 80 lakh, but stayed steady on Tuesday to collect Rs 75 lakh. However, on Wednesday, the film crashed to collect only Rs 50 lakh, as per early estimates by Sacnilk, thus taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 7.30 crore. By far, this would be Kareena’s lowest performing film in the longest time.
Kareena’s next is Rohit Shetty- Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again, which is slated to release on Diwali. It would be clashing with
Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Triptii Dimri’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. However, there are murmurs about Singham delaying its release by 2 weeks, and coming in November now.
