After a quiet but steady start on Friday, 'Metro... In Dino' picked up pace on its second day in theatres. The film, directed by Anurag Basu, earned ₹3.5 crore on Day 1 and added another ₹6 crore on Saturday, taking its two-day total to ₹9.5 crore at the domestic box office, as per early estimates by the Sacnilk website.

Decent numbers


With a large ensemble cast that includes Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Sara Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, and more, the film brings together several parallel storylines — a format Basu has successfully explored before. While the opening wasn’t massive, the significant 71% jump on Day 2 points toward growing word-of-mouth and interest in urban centers.



Evening shows drive the surge


Saturday’s performance got stronger as the day progressed. The Hindi 2D version had an average occupancy of 32.20%, and numbers were pulled up sharply by evening and night shows, which clocked in at nearly 39% and 47% respectively.


The film performed best in cities like Pune (41% overall occupancy), NCR (36.25%), and Mumbai (33%). In fact, Pune’s night shows reached 55%.


Can Sunday Help Push It Past ₹15 Cr?


With Saturday showing impressive growth, all eyes are now on Sunday’s numbers. If the upward trend holds, Metro... In Dino could close its opening weekend near the ₹15 crore mark — a respectable total for a film of its genre and tone.


So far, the film seems to be finding its audience — slowly but surely. And in a crowded release window, that’s often half the battle won.

After an engaging build up, the second half feels a tad stretched.
