'PadMan' box-office collection Day 8: The Akshay Kumar film rakes in a total of an estimated Rs 64 crore

Akshay Kumar's 'PadMan' has been maintaining a steady pace at the ticket counters ever since its release. The film collected Rs 2 crore on its eighth day taking its total to an estimated Rs 64 crore nett, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com.

of 'Ki & Ka' fame and is based on the story of

Arunachalam Muruganantham

, a social activist from Tamil Nadu who invented the process of making a low-cost sanitary pad.

Starring Akshay as the PadMan and Radhika Apte as his wife, the film also stars Sonam Kapoor in a prominent role. One of the songs in the film 'Sayaani' is about celebrating the arrival of puberty among girls. The film also has a beautiful romantic number 'Aaj se teri' which tells the innocent love story of Akshay and Radhika in the film.
