Paresh Rawal’s ‘The Taj Story’ crosses Rs 10 crore mark

Paresh Rawal's controversial film 'The Taj Story' has surprised everyone with its steady run at the box office despite facing competition from big films like SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali- The Epic, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma and Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. The film on Wednesday, 5th day of its release crossed Rs 10 crore mark.

The film which released on October 31st opened to a mere Rs 1 crore collection, but as word of mouth publicity spread the film saw a 100 % jump on Saturday to mint Rs 2 crore on day 2. On day 3 the film saw a minor spike as it collected Rs 2.75 crore. Usually films on Monday drop but The Taj Story showed resistance there as well as it dropped by only 58 % to collect Rs 1.15 crore and on Tuesday the film spiked again to collect Rs 1.6 crore, taking its total collection to Rs 10.10 crore. On Wednesday the film’s collection stayed steady as it minted the same as Tuesday Rs 1.60 crore. The Wednesday collection has stunned everyone as on Tuesdays cinema halls usually offer discounts and thus generate more revenue, but the same collection on Wednesday shows that the film has finally found its audience.





The film which revolves around a court case filed by Paresh Rawal’s character questioning the authenticity of Taj Mahal still has long legs at the box office. With no big Hindi release happening next week- the film is expected to cross at least Rs 15 crore mark at the box office.

The Taj Story marks another win at the box office for Paresh Rawal as his other release Thamma has also been doing good business at the ticket window and is expected to cross at least Rs 145 crore before its theatrical window comes to an end.
