'RAW-Romeo Akbar Walter' box-office collection Day 2: The John Abraham starrer grossed Rs 7 crore on its first Saturday
Joining the bandwagon of films based on nationalistic themes, John Abraham is out with his latest release ‘Raw- Romeo Akbar Walter’ where the actor is seen pulling off the character of a spy. The film has been receiving positive reviews from the audience and critics alike and has also had a decent start at the box-office.
According to reports in the BoxofficeIndia.com, the action thriller collected Rs 7 crore on its first Saturday, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 12.25 crore.
The film set the cash registers ringing at the box-office on its first day by collecting Rs 5.25 crore, showing a 30 percent growth on its second day.
The film, which is written and directed by Robbie Grewal, is reportedly based on true events. It follows the journey of an Indian secret agent, played by John, during the 1971 India-Pakistan war that led to the birth of Bangladesh. It was the subcontinent's most decisive battle, in which the Pakistan Army surrendered to the Indian Army and is popularly remembered as the time when the intelligence agencies played a crucial part in India's calculated and clinical victory over Pakistan.
Apart from John Abraham, the film also stars actors like Jackie Shroff, Mouni Roy, Raghubir Yadav, Sikander Kher and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi in pivotal roles.
The film is produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Dheeraj Wadhawan, Ajay Kapoor, Vanessa Walia and Gary Grewal.
