Facing competition in cinemas
While the film continues to do well in metro cities, it is now facing tough competition from Anurag Basu’s ‘Metro In Dino’, which is aimed at a similar audience. Hollywood releases like ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ and Brad Pitt’s ‘F1’ are also affecting the film’s performance in big cities, taking away some viewers.
What ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is all about
Aamir Khan plays a short-tempered basketball coach who gets suspended after hitting the head coach. With more legal trouble coming his way, he’s given a chance to avoid jail by doing community service. His job? Coaching a team of neurodivergent athletes. And from this point, the story takes a touching turn. The film is directed by RS Prasanna and stars Genelia D’Souza alongside Aamir Khan. It also introduces ten fresh talents: Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Samvit Desai, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ review
The Times of India gave the film 3 stars and praised its balance of emotion and message. Here’s an excerpt from their review, “Despite a sensitive and layered subject, R S Prasanna's directorial venture, written by Divy Nidhi Sharma, remains a wholesome, feel-good watch. It strikes a commendable balance between delivering a message and educating viewers about ID, all with a lighthearted touch. At its core is a message of inclusivity—conveying that people with ID are employable, independent, full of life, and deeply empathetic.”
The review also praised how the characters’ traits were shown with sensitivity, “The film sensitively portrays the characteristic traits of the players' conditions without reducing them to labels—Bantu’s (Vedant Sharma) stimming through ear-scratching, Guddu’s (GopiKrishnan K Verma) aquaphobia, Sharmaji’s (Rishi Shahani) speech impairment, and the less-recognised invisible autism in high-functioning Hargovind (Naman Misra). These are presented as facets of their personalities, not just symptoms.”
Overall, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ continues to win hearts with its meaningful story and strong performances. Even as it faces competition, the film’s touching message about acceptance and hope keeps drawing audiences.
