The year 2024 has taken a unique turn from the previous trend of big names leading blockbuster films. "Guntur Kaaram," made by the formidable pair of Mahesh Babu and Trivikram, is one offering. On the flip side, a relatively lesser-known duo, Teja Sajja and Prasanth Varma, with "Hanu Man," is challenging the superstar with compelling content. In four days Hanu Man has earned about US $ 3.04 million in North America, while Guntur has minted about US $ 2.35 million in 4 days and a premiere night.

Guntur Kaaram had a major head start with its premiere shows, where it minted more than US $ 1.4 million but post that, the film has only been hitting a downward spiral. Whereas Hanuman, which is a much smaller film, has been growing with a superlative word of mouth. Its premiere and day 1 collection was nearly US $904,374. The film on day 2 minted $1,708,183 and on day 3, it added another $800,090 and on day 4, it added $538,498, taking the total collection of the film beyond US $ 3 million mark. It will be interesting to see how Hanu Man fares from now on and how far it reaches.

Talking about the immense success the film has been receiving at the box office, in an exclusive interview with ETimes, director Prasanth Varma said, “ We never expected the film to make such big numbers. We thought we would make a very good film. And we wished the audience likes the story and for all the effort that we put in and we can just make up the money that we've invested so that we can make another film with it. That's all we thought. The intention was to not make a lot of money from Hanuman. The intention was to tell the story and everything else will follow. The idea was to create a universe of superhero films where I could bring a lot of other characters.”
