'The Kerala Story 2 Goes Beyond' box office collection Day 1: Film rakes in Rs 3.5 crore despite delayed release
After the Kerala High Court lifted the interim stay on the release of 'The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond' on Friday evening (yesterday), the movie hit the theaters on its scheduled date, February 27, 2026. Even though the film didn't get a full day of screening, it has raked in good numbers at the box office. Let's take a look at how much the controversial film, backed by Vipul Amrutal Shah, has made on its debut day in theaters.
As per the report, 'The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond' witnessed an overall 11.99% Hindi occupancy on Friday, February 27, 2026.
Meanwhile, as per the PTI report, the ticket sales for the movie are slow and expected to pick up the pace in the coming days in Kerala. Reportedly, in the PVR theater at the Lulu Mall in Thiruvananthapuram, only 68 tickets were sold until 10 am for the four shows scheduled for the day, according to BookMyShow figures.
Meanwhile in Kochi, Suresh, the owner of the popular Shenoy Theatre, said there were around 50 percent bookings for the four shows scheduled during the day. "The bookings are more for the evening and night shows," he told PTI.
He said that the number of shows to be screened in the coming days will be decided based on the first day's ticket sales. At the same time, Suresh also said that it was a slow start when the first movie—'The Kerala Story'—was released in 2023. "The bookings had slowly picked up, and there was a good collection," he said.
At Kozhikode city's Crown Theatre, a similar trend was seen last time in 2023, its owner Vinod Iyer said. This time, the bookings are "very poor" for the four shows scheduled in his theater for the day, Iyer told PTI.
He said that the reasons for it might be that the bookings were opened late on Friday, and people might be waiting for the reviews before making a decision.
Mannan Shah has composed the music for the movie.
The producers appealed the court order, and a special session was arranged by the division bench of three justices, which lifted the stay.
