Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava becomes the 14th highest-grossing film in Indian cinema as it crosses the Rs 400 crore mark.

The historical epic Chhava has achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the 14th Indian film to surpass the Rs 400 crore mark in net domestic collections. At the end of 14th day the film had collected Rs 399.50 crore and till 2 PM on Friday ( 15th day) the film added another Rs 2.14 crore, thus taking the overall collection to Rs 401.64 crore. This feat cements Chhava's place among the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema, as it overtakes several high-profile films in the all-time list.


With this achievement, Chhava has outperformed major box office giants, including:

• Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) – Rs 391.4 crore
• Dangal (2016) – Rs 387.38 crore
• Avengers: Endgame (2019) – Rs 373.05 crore
• Jailer (2023) – Rs 348.55 crore
• Sanju (2018) – Rs 342.57 crore
• Leo (2023) – Rs 341.04 crore

The film’s strong performance at the box office underscores its mass appeal and audience appreciation, making it one of the biggest hits of recent times.

The Next Milestone: Entering the Top 10 Club

Having reached this milestone, Chhava is now eyeing a place in the top 10 highest-grossing Indian films. To achieve this, it will need to surpass the following films:

• Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) – Rs 421 crore
• 2.0 (2018) – Rs 407.05 crore
• Salaar: Cease Fire - Part 1 (2023) – Rs 406.45 crore

If Chhava maintains its strong hold at the box office, it has a significant chance of entering the elite Rs 420 crore+ club and breaking into the top 10 list of all-time Indian blockbusters. The coming weeks will determine whether it can achieve this next milestone.

Vicky is currently shooting Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. It is his second film with the celebrity couple after Sanju and Raazi, performance and box office wise both the films rank very highly in Vicky’s filmography. Post which he is expected to start working on Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik’s Mahavatar which is based on the life of Lord Parshuram- the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.Talking about how the film in an exclusive interview with ETimes, Amar said,“I’ve always wanted to explore different genres, and mythology is something that has fascinated me since childhood. My mother used to tell me mythological stories, and I would imagine how those events might have unfolded. Now that I’m in the film industry, and fortunately, some of my films have been successful, I have the support of my producers. I’ve learned a lot about VFX and storytelling, and this project feels like both a responsibility and a challenge. I think I work best when faced with a challenge.”
